lake house

in single-family residential architecture, the great challenge revolves around making the dwelling truly suited to a family. in casa do lago, this task is multiplied by three.

three friends contacted the office with the mission of designing a country house capable of serving their families in different or shared periods of use.

the plot measures 2,760.36 m² with a 4-meter slope toward a lake, guiding the project to be developed in an elevated position aligned with the higher levels of the terrain. for this reason, the main volume rests on a stone retaining wall that supports the mixed structure forming the residence’s single floor.

the use of a metal structure in the social area allowed the creation of a clear span that crosses the entire slab, where a butterfly-type glulam roof lands, which together with floor-to-ceiling frames floods the social space with natural light and ventilation.

the private wing, composed of 8 bedrooms, encloses the social area toward the center of the site and is defined by the use of wooden frames that fully close to ensure privacy, and when opened provide views of lush gardens that promote biophilia beyond the lake scenery.
