on a 2,000 m² plot in são paulo, the site was chosen to host the gathering place of the family nucleus that commissioned the office with the mission of building a 1,086 m² residence.
the project’s main objective is to be a place of rest, refuge, and above all reunion. the architect interpreted this poetically as the construction of a nest that shelters and brings together all generations. the central concept is the use of pergolas to architecturally mimic the small branches and twigs incorporated in the making of a nest, an element that sets the rhythm, embraces the entire project, frames the landscape, and later extends into structure.
analogous to the branch where birds perch to rest and observe nature, a long wooden bench accompanies the architectural promenade of the residence, allowing its users to experience the biophilia created by the landscape design.
the project includes multiple suites and generous spaces, as the house was conceived for collective enjoyment. all environments are connected by a chamfered wooden crown that rests on the pergola as it transforms into wooden beams beneath the social volume, enabling sensory permeability between interior and exterior while still ensuring the comfort and warmth of the wooden nest built upon a stone base.
